In this composition, a full symphony work encompassing the contrasts of slow and fast, the dancelike and the heroic and oceanic are compressed into one continuous movement. The work features complex dynamic asymmetrical  rhythms with expressive harmonies and melodies. The addition of timpani allows for some uniquely dynamic solos for this powerful instrument. The work has been described as "Tchaikovsky goes of Cuba" and "Wagner on Acid."
